Manila

A 1 track lo-fi single (6m 49s) — released April 25th 2011 on Bomb Shop

Rough Fields is the operating name of James Birchall, an electro-acoustic composer, lofi/noise/folk artist and electronica producer from Manchester, UK. James has been operating in experimental electronica and bass music for a few years, as head of the Bomb Shop label, releasing experimental electronica, house and dubstep under various names (Elias Linn, YTAC, Los Vampiros Lesbos, Sous Section 5, Jingai). The Rough Fields project brings together the disparate strands of James' previous musical paths through folk, classical, rock, minimalism, electronica, electro-acoustic and experimental composition. The first track to emerge, "Manila", is almost completely constructed from rescued instruments (a violin found on a tip, a rebuilt mandolin, a melodica with 15 working keys, a 2 string guitar) and found sounds. It's sort of a love song. But not really.
